Fallout 76 - Stress Test FAQ

Today we’re excited to announce that we’re teaming up with Xbox Insider to give some players who pre-ordered Fallout 76 on Xbox One a chance to break it even earlier!

What is the Fallout 76 Stress Test?

The Fallout 76 Stress test is a smaller, timed stress test happening in North America which will help us get ready for the B.E.T.A.

Is the Fallout 76 Stress Test the B.E.T.A.?

No, they are two different things. Unlike the B.E.T.A., the Fallout 76 Stress Test will be under NDA and your progress during the Stress Test will not be saved.

How do I get chosen for the Fallout 76 Stress Test? Will anyone who pre-orders get in?

Nope. The Fallout 76 Stress Test is a smaller, timed stress test hosted by the Xbox Insider Program. If you have pre-ordered Fallout 76 on Xbox One (either digitally or physically) and you’re an Xbox Insider, you may be selected for the Fallout 76 Stress Test.

How do I become an Xbox Insider?

Becoming an Xbox Insider is easy. Simply install the Xbox Insider Hub app on your Xbox One console. Follow the steps here.

I pre-ordered the game on Xbox, how will I know if I am selected for the Stress Test?

If you pre-ordered Fallout 76 digitally on Xbox One:

1. Log into your Xbox One with the account you used to pre-order
2. Download the Xbox Insider Hub App from the Store
3. Launch the Xbox Insider Hub and look for “Fallout 76 Stress Test” under the Insider Content tab. If you see it, you can participate!
4. Click “Join”, accept the terms of use, and you’ll be brought to the Store to install the game.

If you pre-ordered the physical version of Fallout 76 on Xbox One:

1. Log in to Bethesda.net account to see if you received a token to redeem on your Xbox.
2. If you are selected for the Stress Test, you will be able to retrieve your Xbox One code from the Transaction History section of the Bethesda.net account menu.
3. Once you have a code, use it to download Fallout 76 from the Xbox Store on your Xbox One. Note: Those with physical pre-orders do not need the Xbox Insiders app to be able to download Fallout 76 from the Xbox Store.

When does the Stress Test start?

The first Fallout 76 stress test will begin on Saturday, October 13th. Be sure to follow @bethesdastudios and @fallout to learn what time the Stress Test will start. The schedule will also be displayed in-game on the Start screen.

Do I need an Xbox Live Gold account to participate in the Stress Test?

Yes, you will need a subscription to Xbox Live Gold to play the Fallout 76 Stress Test.

Is the Stress Test the full game?

The Stress Test is an early version of the full game. However, it is not the same version that will be used for the B.E.T.A. or launch.

Will my progress/character carry over to the B.E.T.A. and launch?

No, as this is not intended for release, there will be character and progression wipes that occur. No progress will be saved.

Will I be able to unlock achievements?

No, achievements will not be accessible during the Stress Test.

What territories can participate in the Stress Test?

Currently, the Stress Test will only be available for North America and in English only.

Will the Stress Test be under NDA?

Yes, the Fallout 76 Stress Test is subject to the terms and conditions of the Xbox Insider Program including an NDA you will be required to accept before accessing the game. Do not stream, post screenshots or create content from the Fallout 76 Stress Test. Participants that violate the NDA are subject to removal from future Fallout 76 events.

I pre-ordered Fallout 76 on PlayStation 4 or PC, can I still be selected for the Stress Test?

The Stress Test is only accessible in North America on Xbox One, but PlayStation 4 and PC players who have pre-ordered the game will be able to participate in the B.E.T.A. on October 30. Get more information on the B.E.T.A. here.
