War never changes, but the Multiverse of Magic: The Gathering is in for something S.P.E.C.I.A.L when the world of Fallout converges with the hit trading card game March 8, 2024.

Magic: The Gathering – Fallout features four preconstructed 100-card Commander Decks, each ready to battle it out with friends right out of the box, as well as exciting Collector’s Boosters (more on that below). Each Commander Deck taps into the unique factions, settings, characters and even gameplay mechanics of the Fallout franchise - spanning back since its debut in 1997 – in this one-of-a-kind Universes Beyond collaboration with Magic: The Gathering.

POST-NUCLEAR MAYHEM ON THE TABLETOP

Each Commander Deck contains classic Magic: The Gathering cards alongside dozens of brand-new card designs, reimagined for the post-Atomic Era action of Fallout so you can play Magic with your friends - wasteland style!

Choose Your Commander

Inside every preconstructed Commander deck are two traditional foil legendary creatures designed to serve as the commanders for your deck. These legendary creatures include some of the Fallout universe’s biggest movers and shakers such as Fallout New Vegas’ own Mr. House, leading his Securitron army to victory from atop the Lucky 38 Resort & Casino.

Delve into Storied Vaults

When The Great War came a-knockin' in 2077, a privileged few took shelter from the bombs in advanced Vault-Tec shelters. Some withstood the destruction and attempted to rebuild society, others were...less fortunate.

In Magic: The Gathering – Fallout, Vaults come to life with Saga cards, retelling events that transpired underground, such as the player character’s birthday in Fallout 3 (complete with cake and security detail.)

Embrace a Wild Wasteland

It’s not all hidden Vaults and high towers, however. There are dangers dwelling on the radiation-soaked surface, not to mention natural hardships such as deadly wildlife, vicious Radstorms and nuclear contamination.

Keep your big iron ready should you run afoul of a Feral Ghoul roaming the Capital Wasteland’s tunnels, and just turn tail and run if it's an apex predator like the menacing (and trampling) Alpha Deathclaw.

Scrap, Scrounge & Scrape By

It’s rough out there, but the denizens of Fallout know a thing or two about post-nuclear survival. For example, looting a Nuka-Cola Vending Machine could yield precious refreshment. Oh, and hold onto that bottlecap! They make good currency in the right parts of the wasteland.

Collect enough Food, Clue, Junk and Treasure tokens and you may just survive to see another sunrise (also known as your next upkeep.) Just don’t get too greedy or you could wind up Overencumbered!

And of course, it wouldn’t be Fallout without the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System. Plucky planeswalkers need no longer worry about those pesky Raiders (or the occasional mob of creature tokens, for that matter) thanks to the reliable power of V.A.T.S.!

Classic meets Contemporary

On top of all-new cards with original designs, players can look forward to existing Magic cards getting the Fallout treatment, including the basic lands needed fuel your spells.

Magic: The Gathering – Fallout features ten new full-art basic land treatments, depicting the post-nuclear wasteland in top-down isometric and third-person perspectives in a nod to Fallout games from the franchise’s past and present.

FOUR WAYS TO RULE THE WASTELAND

Here are the four themed preconstructed Magic: The Gathering – Fallout Commander Decks that launch March 8:

Scrappy Survivors

Tapping into red, green and white mana, this deck stars the lovable Dogmeat at your side as your commander. Create and sacrifice Junk tokens to dig through your library, sift through your graveyard for handy Equipment or stock up on Food to weather the wilderness. Once geared up, it’s time to venture out and become legends of the wasteland!

Mutant Menace

Following the Great War, some living things were able to adapt to the post-nuclear world...for better or worse. Powered by black, green and blue mana, this deck centers on Fallout’s mutated creatures like The Wise Mothman, contaminating the battlefield with rad counters that saps players’ life as well as cards from the top of their libraries over time. You may also get a touch irradiated, sure, but clever use of the proliferate mechanic ensures your foes need the Rad-Away a lot more than you.

Hail, Caesar

To rule the wasteland, it will take an army – or better yet, a legion. Led by the notorious Caesar, this red, white and black deck unites many of Fallout’s infamous (and often militant) factions such as roving raiders and zealous soldiers to your cause, stomping out dissidents with a swift iron fist.

Refill the front lines with extra token copies of your creatures using the Squad mechanic, pouring your extra resources to quickly build your forces and conquer the wasteland.

Science!

Crude leather armor and antique pistols are fine and dandy, but what about something with more thought and perhaps a few nuts ‘n’ bolts behind it? The Science! deck merges blue, white and red mana to cast artifacts representing giant robots, humanoid synths and high-tech weaponry from the Fallout universe. Headlined by Dr. Madison Li, assemble your scientists and generate energy counters to bring these Pre-War creations back to life!

UNCOVER EVEN MORE WITH COLLECTOR’S BOOSTERS

But we're not done yet! In addition to the Magic: The Gathering – Fallout Commander Decks, players can also look forward to Magic: The Gathering – Fallout Collector Boosters, also arriving March 8, 2024.

These Collector Boosters crack the Vaults wide open for Magic: The Gathering and Fallout fans alike, offering special treatments and other exciting contents. Each 15-card Magic: The Gathering – Fallout Collector Booster could contain:

Showcase Pip-Boy treatments, offering an alternate look to 26 different cards based on Fallout’s iconic wrist-mounted computer assistant.

Fallout Borderless Vault Boy reprints, featuring a selection of player-favorite Magic: The Gathering cards with full-sized art of Vault-Tec's happy-go-lucky mascot.

Serialized Bobblehead cards, with only 500 printed copies of each Bobblehead available, feature an alternate double rainbow foil treatment and unique serialization number.

And more. Uncover extended-art variants of cards from the Magic: The Gathering – Fallout Commander Decks. Add Fallout cards to your favorite decks in both traditional foil and surge foil variants!

Magic: The Gathering – Fallout Commander Decks and Collector Boosters land on store shelves March 8, 2024. Preorder now at your local game store or online retailer, and keep an eye out for previews of more bombastic Fallout cards on social media and the official Magic: The Gathering website.
