Zip up your vault suit, pack plenty of Stimpaks, keep an eye out for Raiders and prepare for the future – March 8, 2024, to be exact - when this Universes Beyond collaboration takes Magic: The Gathering players to a wasteland like they’ve never encountered before.
- Learn more about Magic: The Gathering – Fallout, including a first look at mechanics, Commander Decks and Collector Boosters in this article.
Like any Vault-Tec representative will tell you, preparedness is essential. That’s why we are pleased to present an exclusive look at some of the cards coming to tabletops this March:
PRESTON GARVEY, MINUTEMAN
A stalwart defender of the Commonwealth and an alternate commander included in the Scrappy Survivors Commander Deck, Fallout 4’s Preston Garvey aims to bring peace to the land – in Magic: The Gathering – Fallout's case, literally.
Preston’s ability allows you to create Settlement enchantment tokens, granting the land it enchants the ability to tap for one mana any color – quite useful for paying multicolored mana costs. Fallout 4 fans know about Preston’s dedication to protecting settled areas in the wasteland and how he puts those under Minutemen’s protection before himself. Help defend Preston's Settlements, and your newfound companion will reward you handsomely with his second ability.
Whenever he attacks, Preston Garvey also untaps each enchanted permanent you control so they can serve the Commonwealth once more. Note this doesn’t just untap the lands enchanted with a Settlement token – each enchanted permanent you control untaps with Preston’s lead, so dole out the Auras and make the Minutemen proud!
AGENT FRANK HORRIGAN

Featured in the blue, black and green mana-infused Mutant Mayhem Commander Deck, Agent Frank Horrigan is a fearsome contender, (according to what few lived long enough to recount encountering the brute, that is.)
Experimented upon until turned into a mutated, cybernetic killer by the Enclave, Horrigan is the final boss of Fallout 2 and fans will tell you the title is well-earned. An unstoppable soldier to start with, Horrigan ascends to wasteland legend status when you factor in his Super Mutant strength, a high-tech plasma gun that turns hapless victims into glowing goo, and his mean streak as wide as the New California Republic.
On the battlefield in Magic: The Gathering – Fallout, Frank is a monster (though for rules' sake, technically a Mutant Warrior) who tramples through enemy defenses and even becomes indestructible upon attacking. What’s more, Agent Frank Horrigan lets the player use the proliferate mechanic not once, but twice when he enters play or attacks. Proliferate features heavily in the Mutant Menace deck, building up useful counters like +1/+1 counters on your creatures but also spreading around counters on enemies such as harmful Radiation - a new mechanic debuting in Magic: The Gathering – Fallout.
