Buy GameAs a resident of Vault 76, you’ve been charged with rebuilding civilization as we know it — a monumental task to be sure!
Luckily, you won’t have to face it alone. As you explore the wilds of Appalachia, you’ll likely stumble across other former Vault dwellers. Perhaps you’ll work toward a better future for humankind as inseparable compadres, or maybe you’ll decide the time is right to test your aim and firepower in a frenzied duel. What you make of these social situations is entirely up to you… and those who happen to cross your path.
Adding Friends
Whether you and another dweller were buddies long before the Vault door rolled open, or you just met while scouring the Wasteland for supplies, there’s nothing quite like the thrill of raiding a massive facility or hunting down a terrifying Scorchbeast alongside your closest pals.
If you’re playing on a console, your Friends List from that platform will automatically appear in the in-game Social Menu. If you’re on PC, you can send friend requests by opening the Social Menu and entering their Bethesda.net account names into the search bar. Alternatively, you can add players you meet in-game by selecting them directly on the Map and then choosing “Add Friend”.
Once your friends have received and accepted your request, you’ll be able see when they’re online, and can team up to join a world together. If you find yourself in trouble, any friends who are in your world can also become instant reinforcements by using the map to fast travel to your location.
What Can a Team Do for You?
As your journey leads you into increasingly dangerous situations, you may find that teaming up with others can provide safety in numbers and enough firepower to tackle the fiercest foes Appalachia has to offer. Aside from your newfound might as a roving band of Wasteland scavengers, there are many additional benefits to joining a team:
- As with friends, you and your teammates can use the map to fast travel to one another.
- Teammates cannot deal damage to one another, so don’t be afraid you’ll injure them if they walk into your line of fire.
- If the last of your health slips away and you’re knocked down by enemies, a quick call for help to a nearby teammate — armed with a timely Stimpak (or even some other items, with the right Perk cards!) — can make the difference between perishing or prospering.
- You will gain experience points whenever a teammate kills an enemy, so long as you’ve also managed to land at least one hit.
- Items inside containers are instanced on a per-player basis, which means everyone on your team can snag loot from the same rusted-out chest without leaving anyone empty handed.
- Building a shelter is a breeze when everyone pitches in! Encourage your teammates to join in construction to pool resources and help with the heavy lifting.
- Players with high Charisma can also choose to share Perks with teammates. We’ll share more about Perks and what makes you S.P.E.C.I.A.L. in a future article.
You can invite other survivors to join your team while you are facing them in-game, directly from the map, or by selecting them in the Social Menu and choosing “Invite to Team.” Once they’ve accepted your request, you and your new teammates are free to start mowing down Super Mutants — together! However, team size is limited to four players, so be sure to recruit allies who will have your back when things get crazy!
