From setting up your own private abode piece by piece to fine-tuning your character’s appearance and abilities, you can express your creativity, individuality and even a little ingenuity out in the wasteland. Sure, post-nuclear Appalachia is a dangerous place, but it’s one you can put your personal stamp on!
BREAKING GROUND
Resettling Appalachia following atomic catastrophe is a tall order, but anything is possible with the right setup! Using your Construction and Assembly Mobile Platform, or C.A.M.P., you can put together the components you need to tame the wilderness, make a home away from home or possibly even reap a few rewards.
Building a range of stations and workbenches expands your C.A.M.P.’s capabilities. Power Armor stations let you modify and repair Power Armor, Chemistry stations allow players to synthesize drugs and medicine and Cooking stations let you prepare food and aid items. Armor, Weapons and Tinker’s workbenches also let your craft and modify specific aspects of your gear, from attaching mods to your Power Fist to building mines to protect your perimeter.
Beyond crafting, don’t forget the fundamentals for post-apocalyptic survival! Make sure you have access to purified water, plant crops for sustainable food, extract resources to expand, and stock excess goods in a Vending Machine to build up your economy. Fixtures for key resources can be found under their respective category in your C.A.M.P. building menu such as food, water, power and vending.
VAULT-TEC PLAYER TIP: Getting rest is important, too! Be sure to include a place to sleep in your C.A.M.P. so you can reap bonus XP from being Well-Rested.
TAKE SHELTER
Each C.A.M.P. you construct can be saved using Slots, which you can access and manage through the C.A.M.P. Slots menu found in the Map. Your active C.A.M.P. is noted by a gold icon on your Map - when you enable your active C.A.M.P.’s Public Map Icon, it will appear on the Map to other players. By hiding the Public Map Icon on your Map, only you will be able to see it!
Fallout 76’s Shelters let you construct your own secret underground base! Separate from your main C.A.M.P., Shelters are special instances of underground space with relaxed building restrictions, offering a canvas for any aspiring interior decorator longing for their own personal oasis.
VAULT-TEC PLAYER TIP: Free-cam controls can offer a helpful perspective when building! While activated, the camera can fly freely within the bounds of your construction space.
BECOMING S.P.E.C.I.A.L.
It’s not just your gear that makes you stand out – your character’s S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats are the secret sauce that makes each citizen of Fallout 76’s irradiated West Virginia unique! As you explore Appalachia and level up, you will also get to build up your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats, each referring to your character’s attributes of Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility and Luck.
With each attribute you level up, you’ll also unlock Perk Cards to spend your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. stats on. As you become stronger and round up more Perk Cards, your character can mix and match different builds. Collect copies of Perk Cards you’ve already earned to rank them up for enhanced bonuses!
S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Loadouts offer adaptability to your characters, allowing you to reset and reconfigure their existing S.P.E.C.I.A.L. attributes for free. Visit a Punch Card Machine to allocate your S.P.E.C.I.A.L. points, change up your Perk Cards and even save your selections so that whether you're battling nocturnal monsters in a sewer, scavenging for rare crafting parts or gearing up for some serious C.A.M.P. construction, you have the perfect loadout ready to go.
VAULT-TEC PLAYER TIP: Need to find a Punch Card Machine? We recommend looking at Train Stations throughout Appalachia, in The Crater and at Foundation. You can also use any Punch Card Machines you find at other players’ C.A.M.P.s.
VISIT THE ATOMIC SHOP
Fallout 76’s Atomic Shop is home to a wide range of in-game goods on sale. Atoms are the premium currency used for purchasing items in the Atomic Shop, which include additional Shelters, extra S.P.E.C.I.A.L. Slots, special cosmetics, utility items and more. With free items regularly on rotation and Atoms available as rewards for certain Fallout Season ranks, be sure to frequently check into the Atomic Shop and see what cool things are available!
