Beginner, Mid-Level & High-Level Guide to Fallout 76’s Events
There’s always something to do in Fallout 76’s Appalachian wasteland. Some events are perfect for newcomers, getting you used to working as a team and earning some great early rewards, while others are geared toward veteran thrill (and loot) seekers. And of course, there’s something for everyone in between. No matter where you are in your journey, it’s always a good idea to answer the call of Vault 76 when an event pops up on your map.

Beginner Events
Public Events & Mutated Events
If you’re new to Fallout 76 (or even just looking for a little extra team-play every day), Public Events are one of the easiest ways to get familiar with the world outside the vault. They’ll give you and your fellow players a chance to band together and take on larger encounters than you might not be able to handle on your own right away. Don’t worry if you’re not able to do the lion’s share of damage in the fight. Every little bit helps, and you’ll still earn XP and rewards. Public Events aren’t just for newcomers! Even deep into the game, they can be a great way to meet fellow survivors and rack up some experience, and of course, earn that sweet, sweet loot. (Note: Public Events will only become available after you’ve hit level 10.)
For players who are still learning the ropes but want a little more spice, Mutated Events are the natural next step. These don’t run every day, so you’ll want to check out our social channels to see when the next ones are. Mutated Events add new modifiers to existing Public Events like Volatile enemies that explode on death, Active Camouflage that cloaks foes when they’re not attacking, or Toxic Blood that leaves behind dangerous hazards after a kill. And because of the extra challenge, you can expect extra rewards.
Activities
Not every stop on your journey through Appalachia needs to be a huge firefight. Activities (previously called Events) are great for those in-between moments when you still want to earn rewards and explore the map, but don’t quite feel up to an intense battle. The quickie quests will pop up regularly on your map and can usually be completed by a solo player or small group.
Seasonal Events
Seasonal Events are fan favorites for a reason. Whether you’re helping Grahm the Super Mutant throw the wasteland’s rowdiest cookout during Meat Week, taking part in the strange rituals of the Mothman Equinox or diving into other limited-time celebrations throughout the year, these events are a great chance for newer players to mix it up with the Fallout 76 community. Please note, many of these Seasonal Events have unique rewards that are exclusive to that event, so be on the lookout! And don’t worry if you miss out on a Seasonal Event. These events will return to Appalachia from time to time, so you’ll be able to catch it next time.
Mid-Level Opportunities
Infestations
Infestations are a new addition to Fallout 76! If you’ve got some experience under your belt and want bigger fights and bigger rewards, seek out an Infestation. These dangerous hotspots will pop up all over Appalachia and are packed with a huge variety of extra-tough enemies and high-level loot, including the potential to earn 4-star legendary items. You’re going to want to bring a squad when you head out to clear an Infestation.

Bounty Hunting
Introduced in the Burning Springs update and handed out by none other than The Ghoul from the Fallout television show on Prime, Bounty Hunts are ideal for those looking to get out there and explore the wasteland (and earn some Legendary items and Legendary effects while they’re at it). These hunts can range in difficulty from lowly Grunt Hunts to much more challenging Head Hunts. You’ll have to work your way up The Ghoul’s list to gain access to bigger and badder hunts. Keep an eye out for additional bounty hunts coming to the game in future updates!
Daily Ops
Once you’re ready for something more focused and repeatable, Daily Ops are a great way to test your build and improve your skills as a team. These challenges take place in a random location every day and can be taken on by a group of up to four players. You’ll face different enemy factions and mutations with each Op, so it pays to stay on your toes.
High-Level, High-Risk, High-Reward
Raids
For dwellers chasing Fallout 76’s toughest fights and biggest bragging rights, the Gleaming Depths Raid is where things get serious. Designed for high-level, well-geared teams, this late-game event demands communication and coordination across five separate encounters, culminating in a standoff against the massive Ultracite Terror. If you and your team are ready to take on the biggest and baddest that Fallout 76 has to offer (currently), head to the Ash Heap and dive into the Gleaming Depths. Good luck!
Note: Players of all levels can try their hand at all Fallout 76’s events. Just be warned, if you attempt something like a high-level Raid when you’re still relatively low-level, you may end up picking pieces of yourself out of the dirt. But isn’t that part of the fun?
